“A few months ago, I asked Tina Simmonds of Made in Bramley to restore and re-upholster what we believed to be a “Hans Wegner Papa Bear Chair” with accompanying footstool. Both items, before Tina got to work on them, were neglected, worn and of uncertain provenance. 

We knew the original owners of the chair who passed it to us lived in Copenhagen in the 1950’s but, that was all we knew for certain.

Tina’s diligence and committed detective work started as soon as she uncovered original manufacturing materials and construction techniques. This information coupled with her various communications with the current manufacturers of this chair in Denmark confirmed we did in-fact have a Hans Wegner original.

With the new fabric, beautifully upholstered and restored wood, our chair has truly been transformed and we are now the proud owners of a wonderful, historic and immaculate Papa Bear chair and stool, with the documentation to prove it.
